Transportation for Cancer Patients

Finding transportation to and from cancer treatment can be frustrating because of time, distance, money, or fatigue. We want to help make it easy for you.

There are a number of organizations that can help you! If you are not comfortable with driving yourself or cannot find a ride the below resources can help you to and from treatment.

Our favorite is the American Cancer Society Road To Recovery program which provides transportation to and from treatment for people with cancer who do not have a ride or are unable to drive themselves.

Cancer Transportation

1.  Road to Recovery

Road to Recovery is a program offered by the American Cancer Society that provides free ground transportation to and from treatment. Volunteer drivers offer the use of their cars and along with their time to provide cancer patients with the rides they need.

Simply call them at 1-800-227-2345 and discuss your transportation needs.

2.  Church Groups

Some churches will set up a program where people can volunteer to take cancer patients to and from treatment. Even if they do not have a specific program for rides, it is likely that they have people looking to serve their community in different ways.

3.  Help from Your Insurance Company

You could call your insurance company and see if they have a program or department that could help; they may offer rides to clients. Some insurance plans reimburse patients for travel costs (gas, bus fares, etc.).

Our mission at The Central Florida Cancer Institute is to enhance quality of life, facilitate adaptation, and improve health outcomes through evidence-based care.
